Summer Clearout

Top Tips to Help With the Summer Clearout in Your Home!

The house never looks so cluttered as in the nice weather, as the sun starts to stream through the windows it’s plain to see how grubby and grimy things are, and how the mess has built up through the winter hibernation. It’s little wonder then that people choose the summer months to clear out the home, and it’s the perfect time as you can throw open those windows and really blow the place clean and have a good summer clearout!

It can be a bit daunting, especially when you consider just how big a job the summer sort out is realistically going to be, but if you follow our top tips, you’ll be through it in no time!

Pick the Right Time for your summer clearout

The summer really is the right time to sort out your home, and whether you’re having a clear out to create more space, or in time for a home renovation, then picking the right day is crucial. You don’t want it to be too hot, but it really helps if the weather is dry as if you’re having a proper sort out you’ll want all those doors and windows open.

Divide the Space

What seems like a daunting task when you look at it as a complete job, is easily manageable if you just divide the space. Tackle one area at a time and the whole thing will become a lot more manageable!

Make a list

It really helps, write down what you want to achieve, make a list of things you definitely want to keep, and work from there. By writing things down before you start you give yourself much more chance of actualising the task in hand.

Be Brutal

We all have too much stuff, it’s everywhere, but when it comes to filling the bin bags it can be easy to be sentimental. However, it also pays to be brutal, you’re probably not using half of it and a good clear out is good for the soul.

Arrange disposal

When you get started, you’re likely to be amazed at just how much junk you’ve accrued. How will you get rid of it all? You can arrange a man and a van, or just take some of the junk to the tip yourself, but how about a boot sale, or a charity shop? There are lots of ways to get rid of your junk, after all what’s no good to you may still have plenty of use to someone else.

Freshen up

Now you’ve had a clear out, think about freshening up the space, a lick of paint here and there, maybe some extra cupboards to stop the clutter building again. For that you can talk to us, and we can have someone come in and do a professional job, giving you a home you love again!

It’ll be hard work having a summer clearout, but it’ll all be worth it!
