Well you’ve finally decided on your new fitted kitchen. Everything has been chosen, ordered and planned and now its time to sit back and wait for the fitters to arrive. Everything has been taken care of. Except for just one thing….
Emptying the old cupboards!
Don’t despair! We are here to help! Whilst we cannot come and help you to empty your cupboards (we would love to but we just don’t have the time!) we are here to offer advice and ensure that you are fully prepared for your new fitted kitchen. We know what a daunting task this may seem but this is all part and parcel of having a new fitted kitchen and it also can be fun!
Emptying Cupboards For Your New Fitted Kitchen
Take it one cupboard at a time – start at the top and work down. Empty each cupboard individually, and sort things in to boxes that you can store safely in another room whilst we are completing your new fitted kitchen. We recommend sorting things in to categories – remember this is the fun part where you can start planning what will be going back in to your fitted kitchen when it has been finished.
Reuse, Recycle, Renew and Reminisce…
Reuse
- There will be many items that you will want to keep for your new fitted kitchen, such as food tins, jars, packets and crockery items. Stack these items safely away in to boxes until your kitchen is finished and they can be put back away.
Recycle
- You will probably find that there are things in your kitchen that you no longer need or use. Normally items tucked away at the back of the cupboard that are meant to come out for special occasions, but have been hiding away in your fitted kitchen for years. Single out items that you can pass on to family, friends or even charity shops. This is a good excuse to have a real good clear out and start thinking about the things that you will use when your fitted kitchen is finished.
Renew
- Its always the case, there are always items in your fitted kitchen that have seen better days, such as that coriander that has been in the cupboard for almost 15 years, and the old chipped tea set that you promised yourself you would use one day but has gathered dust since the original fitted kitchen was installed. Throw away items that are no longer of use and cannot be recycled or reused in your new fitted kitchen. Remember, you are sure to treat yourself to some new accessories when it is all finished!
Reminisce
- Leave this part until last. Put things to one side that you haven’t seen for a while because they have been hiding away at the back of a drawer in your old fitted kitchen. You will more than likely end up with a small, or large in some cases, pile of paperwork, souvenirs and keepsakes. Spend a little time looking through and deciding which ones you want to keep. You may even think of a special place where these can be stored away in your new fitted kitchen.
So preparing for your new fitted kitchen does not have to be a daunting task. It can be fun and worthwhile! Once those cupboards are all empty and the work surfaces are clear, you can relax and be safe in the knowledge that all you really have got left to do is wait for your fitted kitchen to arrive!
