When we first decided that we would open Aquarius Home Improvements we had some specific goals in mind. One of the main goals we had in mind was that we would offer fixed price quotations, and would never increase the price of works we quoted.
How can it not be a fixed price quotation?
Something we’ve never understood, and its the same when ‘we’ get quotations for works, is how can any experienced tradespersons (in any trade) not know how much job is going to cost, or how much the materials are, or whats going to happen when you do something?
Take, for example, removing tiles from a wall. Included in all our fixed price quotations is the cost of repairing the walls back to a suitable standard for tiling on to, or plastering etc.
We have been to see many customers over the years, and it still amazes us when they ask the question about what happens to the walls after removing the tiles. Many times we’re told that the ‘other’ people that have given a quotation, haven’t factored in the cost of doing this within their quote. We can only assume that this is a sales tactic to make their quotation ‘look’ cheaper than the fixed price quotation that we have offered. All that will happen is the customer will become annoyed after the works have started because of the ‘extras’ that get added on to the price of the works being undertaken.
Its almost a given fact that when removing old tiles from a wall, there will be some work required to get them back to a standard with which you are able to install the new tiles. This is included within every quotation that we offer.
How can we offer fixed priced quotations?
Firstly, we have many years of experience in the home improvement industry and especially within the realms of bathrooms, kitchens and bedrooms. We have come across almost every conceivable problem that could be faced within these areas (and others) and so we know whats going to happen or whats going to be required for each and every installation we undertake.
We know walls will need boarding or filling, we know what pipework goes where and what does what, and we know just about every product we use. This has enabled us to hone our quoting process and we are able to guarantee that the price we quote, is the price you will pay when you choose Aquarius Home Improvements to undertake work in your home.
There are some exceptions to us offering a fixed price quotation. Sometimes it’s not possible to give a quotation until the works have started. This is usually because the problem to be fixed is hidden behind something, has been installed under floors etc and we are unable to find the problem until work has started. However, our initial investigation is normally undertaken at no cost, and we will give a fixed price quotation once we know what we are dealing with.
What if ‘I’ change my mind?
Obviously when it comes to offering fixed price quotations, we can only do this based on the information given to use at the time of the quote. We understand that sometimes people change their mind and that’s not a problem. We are happy to adjust our quotation to suit yourselves and again this comes with the guarantee that once we’ve done this, the price stays the same.
