The New Year is here (happy New Year, by the way) and you’re probably brimming with enthusiasm when it comes to making some home improvements in 2019.
The possibilities are endless, only limited by your imagination and budget, so why not make this year the year when you focus on your home and make all (or some) of those changes you’ve been promising yourself.
We’ve created this list of New Year home improvements to give you some inspiration:
Make your home smarter
If you missed our post over the festive season on smart home Christmas gift ideas, don’t worry, you can check it out by following the link. It contains a bunch of smart home gadgets – many of which you might never have heard of. Maybe you’ll even be able to pick up some of the smart home gadgets mentioned a bit cheaper in the sales this month.
Have a purge (declutter)
Whether you received an abundance of gifts for Christmas (lucky you), or have simply run out of space because you’ve been accumulating stuff for years, now is as good a time as any to take back your space.
Focus on just one room at a time and don’t start on a new one until you’re completely happy with what you’ve done in the last. Be ruthless. If you haven’t used something for ages, ask yourself if you really need it. Anything that can be recycled or upcycled should be. You can even look to make yourself a few quid by selling some of your unwanted stuff on online auctions sites like eBay. After all, one man’s junk is another man’s treasure, right?
If you do make a little money from selling your stuff, what better way to spend it than on some home improvement projects!
Renovate your kitchen and/or bathroom
If your kitchen has seen better days and your bathroom doesn’t look as beautiful as it once did, why not give them both a birthday this year.
The great thing about rejuvenating either of these rooms is that improvements can be made relatively cheaply. For example, just updating paint and cabinets can have a huge impact on the overall feel.
Looking to go the whole hog and have a new fitted kitchen or bathroom in 2019? Give us a shout– we’d love to help make your dreams a reality.
Revamp your entrance
Does your home’s front entrance say “welcome” or “go away”? Even if the thought of hosting guests doesn’t fill you with joy and you’re not a particularly social person, you still want your front entrance to look nice, right?
The front entrance to your home is the first thing people see when they arrive and it gives them their first impression. Even if you don’t want to spend a fortune or really push the boat out, consider giving your front door a revamp. Even if it’s just a new coat of paint/varnish, or a new handle, the difference will be surprising.
