5 Fabulous Ideas for Your Spare Room

Have you got a spare room in your house that’s full of clutter and basically become a glorified storage facility for you and your family? Maybe your kids have flown the nest and you don’t know what to do with their bedrooms?

Fortunately, it’s never too late to turn a lacklustre spare room into something you’re proud of. With a little bit of work and some imaginative thinking, you can turn that spare room into something that you will not only enjoy, but that will also add some extra value to your home.

Here are five fabulous ideas for your spare room:

1. Home gym

Christmas is coming and that inevitably means copious amounts of food and drink. When January rolls around, there’s a good chance you’ll be considering getting to shape.

But gym memberships can be pricey and not everyone likes working out in front of other people. The answer is a home gym filled with all the equipment that you enjoy using.

While the initial outlay might seem costly, good quality gym equipment often stands the test of time and will provide you with years of service.

2. Reading room

Are you a bit of a bookworm? A dedicated reading room with plenty of space for your book collection and some really comfy chairs could be a great solution to your spare room problem.

It’s important to get the lighting just right. Too dim and you will place extra strain on your eye muscles. Too bright and you may find it overwhelming. Experiment with different lighting levels until you find the one that’s right for you.

3. Home office

Whether you’d like a place in which you can properly house your computer or an area you can use to organise all the paperwork in your life, a home office is a great option for your spare room.

It’s also a fairly cheap and simple transition to make. A decent-sized desk and a suitable chair are about all you need. If you want to push the boat out then you can invest in some new paint too.

4. Man cave

It’s most guys’ dream to have a man cave in their home. These magical dens of luxury satisfy everything that men want in a room – big TVs, comfy seating, appropriate wall art and maybe even a pool table. They are the ultimate place for you and your buddies to relax, drink beer and generally socialise.

5. Home wine bar

If you’re not going to get the man cave idea signed off by your other half, a great compromise is a home wine bar (despite the name, it can still have beer).

Home wine bars are perfect for low-key entertaining or simply a place for you to sit back, relax and enjoy a drink in the comfort of your own home.
